Making Jordan
Michael Jordan. The man who began it all. Negotiably the shoe line that started hype around trainers, people queuing outside of shops for hours to get their hands on heir desired shoe. MJ changed the whole game with this one. Nike thoroughly rinsed the Jordan brand as they produced 38 models of the yes, yes 38. So on the market today you can buy; Jordan 1's, 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's.... 37's & 38's. Lets talking about a few of them!

Jordan 1 Chicago 1985 - Beat Pair |
1985 seen the release of the first ever Jordan Shoe, the Jordan 1 in the Chicago colourway - Red/Black/White.
Originally releasing for 65$ back in the old days, to now being one of the most expensive Jordan's available, with the last sale on StockX being over £33,000 - this was in 2022. Brand new pairs are like finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, you ain't. Even if some how a person had bought a pair back in 1985 and put them in a cupboard until today the soles would be yellowed (from their former white colour) and would crumble in your first few steps in them, so these pairs are either in the bin or in a display case.
The pic on the right is a beat up pair of 'Jordan 1 Chicago 1985', a well used display. Below is a very clean pair, the way they would of been back in the old days - I honestly prefer a beat up pair of shoes too new is not for me.

Jordan 1 High Chicago 1985 - Clean Pair |
There's a great movie that goes into the story of how Nike secured MJ's signature 'Air', even if your not a lover of the Jordan brand and Michael Jordan it's a good watch. Some of the history, MJ became the first basketball player to paid per how the shoe performed on the market, which nowadays sounds crazy. How can a player promote by wearing every single game and take part in the design process yet not get a slice of the pie?
Jordan 1's seen a big wave in popularity in 2020, in the United Kingdom. Jordan's had previously struggled to jump the water over from their origin of USA. But the era of Tiktok fashion seen 1's have their time in the light, but the UK has now moved more onto other silhouettes.
My Personal Favourite
 |
Jordan 4 Wet Cement |
One of these being the Jordan 4, my favourite out of the Jordan brand. The chunkiness of the shoe fits right into UK fashion trends, and Nike are making the most of this by pumping out new colourways frequently. Summer 24 was a good period of releases for the 4's, seeing the 'Wet Cement' and 'White thunder colourways released - both seen here.

Jordan 4 White Thunder |
As Nike are throwing these out like out of date milk, the Quality Control (QC) takes a hit - with pairs coming with more flaws from major retailers. The most recent Jordan 4 release seen a massive uproar from customers as a pairs were coming with mold on them? And not just a few, a large % of pairs did, it became a running joke that people where celebrating their pairs coming without mold on them - imagine celebrating not having mold on your new shoes! |
Jordan 5 Off-White Pack |
Other UK Prominent Models
The only other 2 models you'll see as a UK citizen walking around the streets - frequently - are Jordan 3's and 5's, as these two managed to squeeze into mainstream sneaker culture. The 5's really jumped in after their collaboration with off white - I managed top grab the pack (both colours) that released for retail and made over £1k PROFIT between them :). I actually really enjoy the look of the 5's but I'd never jump to buy a pair - hopefully will own the grey off white's one day !

Jordan 3 White Cements |
The 3's are popular in south England, you won't see them everyday in the north but the silhouette still has its place in Jordan history as sneaker heads across the globe where really attracted to this model - the top dog of the 3's being the 'White Cements'.
This colourway where re-released with slight changes to the model we first seen in 1988 - this is called a retro. although, the last time this colourway was on the shelves was 2018 - time for another retro Nike?
